Good morning! A few stronger wind gusts were reported across southwest Florida yesterday, an effect of some of the drier air that moved in yesterday a couple of miles above the ground. For today, more moisture will move across the peninsula, especially through the southern half of the area, as a weak upper level area of low pressure crosses from the east coast. Expect a few more storms around today and storms that will possibly develop a little earlier in the day (mainly inland); the potential for excessive rain goes up today in the storms but the potential for strong wind gusts actually goes down (especially south).
Scattered storms remain in the forecast each afternoon through the weekend, although it does look like there will be fewer of them this weekend as some drier air works in from the east. A lot of this will depend on the exact evolution of the track of what's left of (and what may yet again become) Tropical Storm Colin. The closer this moves to the Bahamas, the better chance it'll turn extra dry over the weekend. We'll stay on top of it for you.
