Heavy Downpours!

A few thunderstorms are currently moving across the Lee County islands and Southwest Cape Coral. Expect brief heavy downpours, fequent lightning, and gusty winds. These storms are pushing off to the west in the Gulf waters with improving conditions by 7pm.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Collier County until 5pm..

Heavy downpours, gusty winds, and frequent lightning continue to move into parts of Collier county this afternoon. The storm motion is off to northwest at about 15 mph - this means some beneficial rain moving toward the Golden Gate Estates area. Things should begin to calm down as we head into sunset with partly cloudy conditions and temps in the mid to upper 60s overnight.

Cold front moving thru SWFL. Storms over Immokalee heading toward the fire in Golden Gate.

Well the cold front is pushing thru slowly. I really think it is going to have a hard time clearing the area totally. So rain is back in the forecast for the weekend. Mainly in our southern viewing area Saturday. Sunday Lee county may see some rain in the afternoon.

Good news for the fire in Golden Gate, a large storm to the NE is drifting slowly toward the fire zone. It looks like this has a chance to drop some heavy rain over that area in the next hour or so.

Weekend?

The cold front will stall near SW Florida, so there might be a few clouds and showers around this weekend. - Jim

Rain Moving In!

As of 10:15am, a line of heavier downpours and embedded thunderstorms continues to progress southward across Lee county this morning. This activity is associated with a cold front that will bring slightly cooler and drier air by tonight. A few clouds are possible early Saturday morning, otherwise temperatures will be a bit more comfortable in the mid to upper 60s with lower humidity throughout the day.

Cold Front

By tomorrow morning there should be a few showers and a thunderstorm or two in the area. This is the weak, southern end of the same weather system that created the tornadoes in Alabama. While one or two thunderstorms could be strong, we do not expect damage in SW Florida. The weekend still looks sunny and dry. - Jim

Relief on the Way!

As of noon today, temperatures are already climbing to near 90 degrees in Fort Myers. When you factor in the humidity, it feels like it's 97 degrees! A few isolated storms are possible this afternoon/early evening primarily across our inland communities, with mainly dry conditions across the coast. A better chance for showers and a few storms will come tomorrow with the approach of a cold front. In its wake, drier air and slightly cooler overnight lows in the mid 60s by Sunday morning.

Heat on repeat

Another day of unseasonable heat & humidity in store today. The pool, the beach or inside in the A/C will be the places to be this afternoon as near record highs in the low 90's will combine with unseasonably high humidity leading to heat index values in the mid to upper 90's! Yuck! In Naples, a 93 degree high yesterday broke a record & likely you will tie or break the record high of 91 degrees today. A cold front set to move through tomorrow will bring big relief by ushering in much less humid air by Saturday morning setting up a beautiful looking weekend ahead! :)

Breezy day not helping the fire situation around SWFL. Hot too, low 90s again. 93 record in Naples today!

We are watching several fire burn across the area. Wind gusts have been in the low 20s today and temperatures in the low 90s. This does not help the fire situation around the region. The higher humidity does, dewpoints in the upper 60s and low 70s. This will help the firefighters as the breeze dies down later this evening. We are also watching a weak cold front that will move into SWFL by Thursday night into Friday morning. So far we are expecting about .25" to .50" of rain. The weekend is looking dry with less humidity, great to be outside but bad for fire weather!

Cold Front on the Way

Late April cold fronts usually do not affect temperatures too much and this one will be no different. This cold front will arrive early Friday morning. I expect a few showers Thursday night into early Friday morning followed by lower relative humidity this weekend. - Jim

Hot & Humid!

The heat and humidity will stick around for the next couple of days as we wait for the arrival of our next cold front. Mainly dry conditions will stay in place, especially along the coast, with only a chance for an isolated storms across our inland counties this afternoon. Highs will climb into the low 90s today, with a few mid 90s east of I-75. Rain chances will increase a bit Thursday and Friday ahead of a cold front, with more comfortable conditions settling in for the weekend.
-KM

Hot & Humid!

It's a mild & very muggy start to our Wednesday with summer-like humidity set to stick around all day! With all the moisture at the surface, patchy fog has developed this morning with current visibilities at 4-6 miles across much of SWFL, and do watch for the possibility of greatly reduced visibilities near Golden Gate in Collier County due to fog mixing with smoke from yesterday's brush fires in that area. It's gonna get steamy this afternoon with the humidity and near-record high temperatures in the low 90's so be sure to take it easy if you do have outdoor plans. Partly cloudy and breezy today with only a chance at an isolated storm inland.

Stay cool!

Humid

Get reafy for summerlike humidity tonight through early Thursday night. Dewpoint temperatures will run near 72 degrees until a weak cold front arrives early Friday. - jim

Less rain, not less heat

It was a stormy end to our Monday afternoon; more than 2 inches of rain fell at the station! Fewer storms will develop this afternoon & will be concentrated mainly inland. Less rain, but not less heat & humidity! Highs have been in the 90's the last 7 days in a row in Ft. Myers...last time we saw such a streak was last August...and today will likely make day #8!

Scattered storms poping up inland east of 75! Naples broke a record high, 91!

Scattered storms and showers east of 75, slowly moving to the north right now. We will watch these for the next few hours. This moisture is over us from a tropical wave that is just to our east over the Bahamas. The moisture will stay around for the next few days. Tomorrow we expect to see mainly inland storms through the afternoon and evening.

Naples and Ft, Myers breaking record highs today. Naples 91 today which breaks the old record of 90 set back in 1981. Ft. Myers ties a record of 93 set back in 1989.

The long-track tornado that tore a path of destruction across the St. Louis Metro area reached a maximum intensity of EF-4! Hot today again! Highs in the low 90s. Rain by your easter sunday.?

Dry today with low relative humidity. We wil change that a bit as we head into Easter Sunday. The humidity will slowly increase, this will alow a few afternoon storms to develop starting Easter Sunday. Highs this weekend will be around 90. A tropical disturbance out in the Atlantic will bring even more moisture our way by Tuesday next week. Should see a pretty good chance of rain by then.

Hot, Not Too Humid

A cool & comfortable start to the day with temps in the 50's across parts of Charlotte County. Despite the cool morning, highs will be toasty rising into the low 90's! The heat will be intense, but the humidity will not this afternoon. Mostly sunny and breezy at times...a great looking beach day!

Happy Friday!

Feelin' Hot!

The beach or the pool will be the places to be today with high temperatures headed into the low 90's for the 3rd afternoon in a row! Mostly sunny with minimal rain chance for our Thursday with a gulf breeze developing along the coast for the second half of the afternoon at 10-15 mph.

An area of interest remains in the Atlantic but with high wind shear and dry air near to the system, further development looks unlikely at this point.

Hot and tropical

93 degrees today, well above average, but get used to these temperatures as they will run above average through the weekend. Yes, you heard me correctly on the news tonight, there is an early season tropical disturbance in the Atlantic. Don't worry, there is too much wind shear aloft for it to cause SW Florida any trouble. - Jim

AM Sun, PM Clouds & Rain

Not a bad way to start our Wednesday! A sunny sky this morning will become partly cloudy this afternoon with a chance of a few showers closer to the coast. Highs today will climb back into the low 90s, especially inland. Expect a few showers and even a storm or two to linger throughout the evening hours before conditions quiet down tonight. Overnight lows will drop into the upper 60s by early Thursday. Rain chances will scale back a bit for Thursday afternoon with a high of 90 degrees. Drier weather begins to work its way back in as we round out the work week, with mostly sunny and warm conditions into the Easter holiday weekend.

Broke a record in Naples today! 93 today, old record 89! WOW HOT!

We will see a few showers popping up along US41 the next few hours. Could even see a few storms. Looks like the same pattern tomorrow as well. But as we approach the weekend, more sun with no rain in the forecast. Highs will climb into the upper 80s and low 90s.

A Warmer Start...

It was a warmer start to our Tuesday with temperatures bottoming out in the mid to upper 60s. Plenty of sunshine is in the works throughout the mid day hours before partly cloudy conditions develop by this afternoon. A few isolated showers should pop up late this afternoon on the breeze, with daytime highs in the upper 80s to low 90s inland. For tonight, expect a mostly clear sky with lows in the upper 60s.

A Few Inland Showers

A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9am this morning for Hendry and Inland Collier counties. As of 8am this morning, the visibility in Naples was being reported at less than a quarter of a mile. Otherwise, many of us are waking up to just a few clouds overhead with comfortable conditions in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Winds will become a bit more southeasterly today, with a slight increase in the moisture. This combined with the daytime heating and the seabreeze, will spark a few showers across our inland communities throughout the early evening hours. Highs will top out in the upper 80s with low 90s inland. The coastline will stay a bit cooler in the mid 80s.

A weak cold front continues to make its way across the Florida peninsula tonight with very little fanfare. A light shower or two is possible throughout the evening hours, however chances remain very slim. Northwesterly winds tomorrow will usher in some drier air, with a comfortable end to the weekend with a mostly sunny sky and temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. It will be a slightly cooler start on Monday with temperatures in the low to mid 60s. An isolated shower is possible throughout the afternoon hours as we head into Monday, otherwise a mainly dry forecast remains in place for the rest of the week with temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees.

Temperatures Nearing 90°

The sunshine continues to warm things up this afternoon with daytime highs climbing to near 90 degrees. The majority of Southwest Florida will stay on the dry side today, with a stray shower or two developing across our inland communities. Southerly winds will push some higher humidity our way as we head into Saturday. A weak cold front will advance across Southwest Florida early Sunday with a very slim chance for a shower or two. In its wake, we will see a slight drop in the humidity Sunday afternoon.

Unseasonably warm

Temperatures will run above average for the next 7 days, at least. The cold fronts keep coming, but they are very weak by the time they arrive, so we are going to stay warm. - Jim

Humidity Returns by the Weekend

A mix of sun and some high clouds will carry us over into the afternoon hours with daytime highs back into the upper 80s and mainly dry conditions. Comfortable humidity levels will stay in place for one more day thanks to a northeasterly breeze. Winds will become more southerly as we round out the work week, which will bump up the humidity through the weekend ahead of a weakening cold front with temperatures nearing the 90 degree mark.

Highs today in the upper 80s and low 90s. Lower humidity on the way!

A little break from the heat along our beaches today. A southwesterly breeze cooled the beaches to the mid 80s today after low 90s over the weekend. We are watching a weak cold front that will arrive late tomorrow. This front may produce a few showers in our northern counties late tomorrow. Most should stay dry. The heat will continue to build for Sunday as a strong ridge of high pressure dominates our weather pattern. Just a few clouds will pop during the heating of the day as temperatures top out in the low 90s. The coast will be slightly cooler into the mid to upper 80s with an onshore wind during the afternoon hours. A weak cold front will slip into central and southwest Florida by Wednesday with isolated rain.

Partly cloudy conditions will take us into the afternoon hours with daytime highs near 90 degrees - that's 2 degrees shy of our record high set back in 1994! With the heat, humidity, and the seabreeze kicking up there is the potential for one or two stray showers through the early evening hours. High pressure will strengthen over the peninsula into the weekend, with more heat and rain chances remaining very slim. The warmest of the bunch looks to be 91 degrees on Sunday afternoon! Stay cool!

Here is the 6-10 day outlook.....warmer than average for SW Florida. Get ready for high temps near or just above 90 degrees. - Jim

A Beautiful Wednesday!

Temperatures this morning were running 15 degrees cooler compared to yesterday mornings lows, thanks to a cold front that passed through Southwest Florida last night. High pressure sits to our north, which means a cool and dry northeasterly wind for Wednesday. With the dry dry air in place, comfortable conditions will continue with plenty of sunshine. As we head into the latter half of the week, moisture will be on the increase with higher humidity and temperatures nearing 90 degrees by Saturday.

Sunny & Less Humid = Great Day

The cold front that brought rain and strong thunderstorms to SWFL Tuesday has now provided a cool and crisp start to our Wednesday! The temp dropped to 57 degrees in Ft. Myers, tying the coolest morning of the month, and quite a difference from the 73 degrees we awoke to yesterday morning! Rain is leaving SWFL. Looking good into the weekend, How about HOT! 90s!

Well the cold front is moving through the area now. The rain came a couple of hours earlier than expected but either way much need rain for SWFL. Looking at rainfall totals, Ft. Myers .67",  Naples .09", Punta Gorda .35", Cape Coral .24", Bonita Springs .40", Arcadia .60", and Port Charlotte .90". So on average, about .50" across the region. With the rain and a few storms we had some wind gusts in the 40mph range, some minor damage reported. A few power lines down and a few trees down as well.

Now that the front is working through, lower humidity will be moving in and some slighly cooler weather. However, hot weather just around the corner. 90s are expected into the weekend.
