A line of rain and thunderstorms is approaching SWFL and will be impacting the area from mid-morning into the mid-afternoon hours. Be EXTRA careful when driving in the rain today as the lack of recent significant rainfall will cause roads to be especially slick and potentially dangerous as the rain water mixes with the oily surfaces of roadways. The National Weather Service office in Tampa is receiving reports that a lot of drivers in the Tampa Bay area are losing control of their vehicles especially around interstate entrances and exits as a result of the rain that moved through a few hours ago.
Be safe!
