Rain on the way

A warm, breezy and humid afternoon ahead with highs reaching to near 80 degrees...but beach weather it is not as clouds will continue to overtake the sky and scattered showers develop for the second half of the afternoon. Rain chances increase into the evening hours with thunderstorms possible as an area of low pressure strengthening in the Gulf moves east. Periods of heavy rain likely overnight with the possibility of a few strong storms...the main threat will be gusty, damaging winds. The rain will continue into early Wednesday and begin to taper off by the mid to late morning hours. Expect total rainfall accumulations through this event of 1-2 inches, with higher amounts locally especially in northern counties of SWFL. Take extra-care on your commute tomorrow morning due to ponding on roadways and possible downed tree branches.

Have a great afternoon,
Lauren
