Brian: Fewer storms today, but what does develop could be strong... highs in the mid 90's...

Good morning! Some drier air has moved into the mid levels of the atmosphere this morning and this should delay the arrival of showers and storms today until the late afternoon aong the coast (remember yesterday storms formed earlier in the day). What does form, though, could be on the gusty side -- similar to Tuesday's storms that featured some wind gusts close to 40 mph in a few communities.

Upper level low pressure is spinning over the Bahamas this morning and this will keep the chance of rain a bit lower over the next couple of days and eventually into the weekend. Highs over the next few days will be in the middle 90's.

Today's forecast:

Naples  Partly Cloudy  Scattered PM Storms; High 92
Bonita Springs Partly Cloudy  Scattered PM Storms; High 94
Fort Myers Partly Cloudy  Scattered PM Storms; High 94
Cape Coral Partly Cloudy  Scattered PM Storms; High 93
Port Charlotte Partly Cloudy  Scattered PM Storms; High 94
Hendry Co. Partly Cloudy  Scattered PM Storms; High 92
Glades Co. Partly Cloudy  Scattered PM Storms; High 92
DeSoto Co. Partly Cloudy  Scattered PM Storms; High 92

The tropics are turning very active, as expected, although there are no organized areas at this time. The remnants of Colin are located north of the Virgin Islands this morning but are located in an area unfavorable for redevelopment at this time. Colin could reform though over the next day or so as the wind shear begins to weaken near the storm. All of our models take this storm well off of the east coast at this time, although as I've said, a weaker Colin could move a little farther west than the models suggest. That said, I don't expect Colin to impact our weather here in southwest Florida in any event.

Have a great day!

Brian
