Brian: Cooler with low clouds this morning.. partly cloudy this afternoon

Starting out this morning with a lot of low clouds and some fog across the area, even with breezy weather. The reason? There is what we call a shallow inversion layer in place; a very small layer of the atmosphere where the temperature increases with height (unusual) over the lowest 1000 feet or so of the atmosphere. This is keeping some of the moisture left behind from yesterday's cold front trapped near the ground and giving us the low clouds. Gradually, though, this inversion will break enough to allow the clouds to fade out... by mid to late morning we should have a partly cloudy sky. It will be breezy & cooler today with temperatures in the upper 60's and low 70's.

Yesterday's cold front will return tomorrow as a warm front, giving us a few more clouds and warmer temperatures. The late week forecast is still on track.. a cold front gets here close to midnight Friday into early Saturday. Out ahead of it, it will be breezy and warm Friday with temps in the upper 70's and low 80's. Rain arrives very late Friday night and is with us through early Saturday morning. Partly cloudy and cooler Saturday PM and Sunday, with temps in the 60's!
