NOAA Issues Hurricane Forecast August Update

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued it's revised August forecast for tropical activity for the remainder of the 2010 Atlantic Hurricane Season, and like the August update of Colorado State University's forecast yesterday which included no alternation in the forecast numbers from June to August, NOAA's forecast contains little change in the way of expected tropical activity...thus NOAA believes we are still on track for a very active hurricane season...

NOAA is now expecting by season's end the formation of;

14-20 Tropical Storms
8-12 Hurricanes
4-6 Major Hurricanes

(These numbers include Alex, Bonnie and Colin)

The forecast issued by NOAA in June contained the prediction of;

14-23 Tropical Storms
8-14 Hurricanes
3-7 Major Hurricanes
