Paula remains a minimal Category 1 hurricane and is a fairly compact system. We still do not expect Paula to really affect us here in southwest Florida. One of two things will happen: Paula will stall across the northwest Caribbean for several days as steering currents weaken or the cold front moving through south Florida late Thursday/early Friday will sweep the tropical moisture out into the Atlantic and away from us. Either way, we'll still watch Paula but we're not expecting it to be a problem for us!
