It was a hot and humid start to the month of May across SWFL! In Ft. Myers, we reached a high temperature of 91 which was our first 90 degree day of the year. A high temperature of 90 in Naples today was one degree shy of tying the record high of 91 established in 1994.
And with high pressure in control at the surface and aloft, more toasty temps are in store for tomorrow. Expect great beach weather, but not so great if outdoor chores are on your Sunday schedule! High temperatures will climb into the upper 80s along the coast to low to mid 90s inland under a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky.
A southerly surface wind will continue to pump in the moisture providing another round of stickiness for tomorrow as well. Heat index values, or "feels like" temperatures, during the afternoon will reach into the 100-105 degree range so if you do plan on spending time outdoor, be sure to wear light-weight, light colored clothing and drink plenty of water. Breezy conditions will be Mother Nature's only relief from the heat with wind speeds of 15 mph, gusting to 25 mph.
Stay cool!
