I'm watching a line of potentially strong to severe storms now moving through the eastern Gulf of Mexico. These are now located a few hundred miles offshore and are moving very quicky toward the NNE. The Storm Prediction Center has southwest Florida under a slight risk for severe weather overnight tonight, with the possibility of damaging wind gusts and perhaps an isolated tornado. It is possible we will be under a severe thunderstorm or tornado watch at some point tonight, I'll keep you updated.
We got enough sun today and enough moisture has returned to the atmosphere to make things unstable enough for a few stronger storms. The line should arrive well after midnight though, probably close to 2 AM in the northern part of the area. More later..
