Ice Pellets in Punta Gorda...

As the temperatures continue to crash aloft, we have our first report of UP or "unknown precipitation" at the Charlotte Regional Airport:

KPGD 091918Z AUTO 35009KT 10SM UP BKN012 OVC025 03/02 A3020 RMK AO2 RAE12UPB12 P0001

That's an official observation from Punta Gorda. It's in the upper 30's there with a north wind at about 12 mph... cold stuff! Other parts of the area also could have some ice pellets and perhaps even a wet snowflake mixed in as the temperatures continue to cool. It is going to turn into a race against the clock though later tonight as dry air quickly moves in. Either way, though, at least a part of the area now has had some very unusual wintry precipitation!
