The morning showers have ended across the Gulf of Mexico and the next few hours should be dry across southwest Florida. Temps are already approaching 80 in most communities and we should make it into the lower 90's this afternoon. Showers and storms will develop along the Gulf breeze later today, first near US-41 and I-75 and then pushing inland with time. It is possible that a few of these could drift back toward the coast as they fall apart well after sunset this evening.
We may see a few more morning showers farther up the coast looking ahead to Friday and Saturday. The pattern of AM showers should end on Sunday, but inland afternoon storms continue through early next week.
In the tropics, the high wind shear over the southern Gulf has taken care of the remnants of Pacific storm Agatha as most of the tropical moisture has shifted to our southeast. Elsewhere, no development is expected over the next week or so. We may need to watch what happens with a weak front moving into central Florida by the middle of next week as sometimes these systems, this time of year, can serve as a focus for some development (but this is not on any of the models as of right now).
