Brian: Some heavy rain moving through Highlands County.. scattered showers in Lee

The first line of rain has already moved through Charlotte County and is now pushing through eastern DeSoto and Highlands County. Farther to the south, the line actually has broken up a bit and we have a scattered of brief downpours across Lee County. There is a new line forming from coastal south Charlotte County south to well offshore Collier County and this is showing some signs of strength (some frequent lightning, heavy rain). This likely will lose strength though as it approaches the coast... the atmosphere (low levels) is quite unstable over the Gulf, but stable over land.

Forecast looks on track right now... some stronger wind gusts a possibility, but again, severe weather unlikely! We should break into some sunshine is afternoon with temperatures climbing into the low 70's.. not a bad afternoon across SWFL!
