Lauren: A much more mild start to our day with a warm afternoon in store

It was a cold start to our Wednesday morning with temperatures in the upper 40's and low 50's but starting off much more mild this morning with temperatures in the low 60's!

Our surface wind will shift from the east to the south this afternoon allowing temperatures to warm quite effectively despite the increased cloud cover today. Expect highs in the upper 70's along the coast to low 80's inland.

A forecast high of 82 degrees today would make only the fifth day of the month so far that the high temperature hit or surpassed the 80 degree mark in Ft. Myers...our average high is 82! Not only have temperatures been unseasonable but significantly below the average as high temperatures didn't escape the 60's a total of eight days in Ft. Myers earlier this month!

To make up for a cool March thus far, Mother Nature has a warm streak in store and I'll have the details on the warm air plus Friday rain in the forecast coming up on WINK News at 11am on 6TV and WINK News Now at Noon!

Have a great morning!
Lauren
