Good morning! A few showers, and even an embedded thunderstorm, are moving across coastal Collier this morning as our steering flow at the low levels continues to come from the south. This pattern will continue over the next two mornings, finally ending on Sunday morning as the flow turns more from the northwest and drier air moves in (this should also cut our rain chances in the afternoon back quite a bit as well).
Between now and around 8 AM we'll have the chance of a few showers from near Marco Island to Everglades City and also, perhaps, the Lee Island Coast if any showers develop south of there. This afternoon, the deep steering flow is still southwesterly which should allow for the best chance of rain across inland sections once again. One or two of these storms could be on the stronger side later today.
As I mentioned, some drier air should arrive as a strong heat ridge builds in from the west late this weekend and early next week. More on that in the 7-day coming up on WINK at 5:45; I hope you can join us! Today's forecast:
